Some more History Writing

This is a friendly letter from the point of view of a black union soldier to his mother.

Hi, I know why we are fighting this war. I know what the good reason is. I know that I should be happy that I'm fighting for our freedom, but I get paid less than they do. I have to work harder than the other soldiers.
I do not know why they give us less, even though the are fighting for us. This war is horrible. If we even see the other soldiers, we are lucky not to be dead. People die not even knowing what happened, and so many people die.
We have the hardest job, and we get the least. I want to go home to you. I want to leave this endless suffering. But I know that what I'm doing is right. I know why we are fighting this war.

So...   Yeah. That's my letter.
